PAGEMARK TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES FIRST XPS VIEWER PLUG-IN FOR FIREFOX AND SAFARI BROWSERS
Pagemark to Demonstrate its XPS Leadership at the 12th Annual Lyra Imaging Symposium
Redmond, Washington - January 27, 2009 - Pagemark Technology, Inc., an industry leading expert in XML Paper Specification rendering technology, today announced the release of the industry first XPS viewer plug-in for Mozilla FireFox™ and Apple Safari™ web browsers. Pagemark's XPS viewer plug-in allows FireFox and Safari users to easily view XPS content that exists on internal and external networks. Previously XPS content could only be displayed if using Microsoft’s Internet Explore under Windows Vista or .NET 3 platforms. The Pagemark XPS Plug-in can be downloaded from http://www.pagemarktechnology.com. This XPS viewer will be demonstrated at Lyra Imaging's 12th annual symposium on document management and print security products enabling support for the increasingly popular XPS format.
"Recent statistics indicate that Firefox's market share is rapidly gaining ground from 14% to over 21% in the past year, while Apple's Safari browser increased from 5% to 8% according to data collected by Net Applications," said RanDair Porter, CEO of Pagemark Technology. "Pagemark is pleased to offer this XPS plug-in solution for users of Firefox and Safari. Now more than ever, users demand wider browser support for various file types and formats including XPS and its inherent benefits."
Firefox is an open-source web browser based on the Mozilla code foundation and supports Windows, Linux and MacOS X operating systems. The user interface is straightforward and uncomplicated while at the same time very fast and is easy to use and navigate. The Pagemark XPS Plug-in supports copying text and images to the clipboard allowing users to copy content into other applications and the ability to save XPS documents to other formats.
"We are seeing more and more XPS documents to make their way into document management and print security solutions and giving users the flexibility to view XPS documents in a wide range of browsers are critical,” said Porter. "The XPS format is an open platform, built upon standard technologies like XML and ZIP. It is easy for applications and automated processes to generate XPS documents; and as a result, the number of solutions utilizing XPS will grow. When implementing critical document process and workflow XPS has clear advantages over PDF.”
Lyra Research, the digital imaging authority (www.lyra.com), will be holding its 2009 Lyra Imaging Symposium on January 26-28, 2009 at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, California. The 12th annual Symposium's varied presentations and panel discussions will examine the event's official theme, 'Collaboration, Customization, and Innovation in the 'New' Imaging Industry.'
Established in 2006, Pagemark Technology, Inc. brings to market core XPS technologies which enable enterprise document solution providers and device manufactures to quickly support the growing demand for printing, displaying, and managing XPS documents.
